Health and Social Care Conference 2009
Wednesday, 11th February saw Imberhorne help to coordinate and take part take part in the 15th annual Health and Social Care Conference held at the NEAPC in Crawley. Mrs Collyer and Miss Brown brought 16 of our delegates from Year 12 and Year 13 to represent our school and the Sixth Form. The day started with a short talk from Val Godfrey who has had an array of jobs in healthcare training, initially as a gynaecologist and as a forensic gynaecologist working with abuse victims. She currently works for West Sussex County Council in promoting quality sexual health and care throughout the county. All guests and students found her talk very interesting and informative.All students then attended two workshops presented by different professionals from Crawley and East Grinstead area, as well as some from surrounding areas ranging from theatre nurses from the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead to Challenging Mental Health stereotypes . In the afternoon Year 12 attended a workshop on careers in the NHS.Overall the day was a success with most students gaining an invaluable insight into a range of jobs in the healthcare profession.Mrs S.
