Summer Stage - 26th & 27th June 2013

Our annual Summer production 'Summer Stage', was performed on 26th and 27th June in our new multi-use performance space. The first evening started with an opening speech from Mr Ford who discussed the naming of the new area: The Di Gasson Studio. Di was an inspirational teacher and colleague at Imberhorne who led the Drama department and the old Arts Faculty for many years. She sadly passed away after an illness in November 2009. Di had an unrelenting drive and passion for the arts.  The new studio will be used primarily for dance lessons and will be transformed into a performance venue with staging, theatrical curtains and fully equipped lighting and sound facilities for school productions.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> On the first night of this year’s Summer Stage, the Drama Department welcomed additional performances from the Music department and Key Stage 3 Dance Club. There was a wealth of wonderful performances devised and directed by the students themselves, mainly growing out of class work at Key Stage 3. The audience were treated to a diverse range of drama pieces ranging from exaggerated melodrama to naturalistic improvisations inspired by characters from play scripts. The Key Stage 3 orchestra and choirs sounded delightful and the dance pieces added vibrancy and energy to the evening. The first show finished with a performance of Revolting from the musical, Matilda, by the Year 12 BTEC Performing Arts students.  On the second evening, the Drama Department led the full show with a further array of interesting and polished performance pieces. Congratulations to all students involved and particular thanks to Matthew Didon in Year 12 who has mastered the new technical equipment expertly.
